As we approach the end of September, we are getting close to completing our first month of school. Ranging from freshmen, navigating the school layout, schedule, and workload, to seniors figuring out the reminder app Band instead of Remind101, senior privileges, and greeting our new VP, school is looking very different this year. Don’t worry—we will break things down for you.
New Vice Principal: Mr. David Wilson

This year, we are pleased to announce Mr. Wilson as our new VP for freshmen and juniors here at Hopewell Valley. With the help of your attendance, lack of disciplinary action, and school spirit, you can take Mr. Wilson to victory for the Black and Gold Cup! Let’s make sure we make his year as easy as possible, and do our part to give back to our teachers and principals.
Band vs. Remind
Whether you know it or not, HVCHS is making a big change in communication. Previous to the 2025-2026 school year, we have been using Remind101, a communication app used by our teachers and extracurricular activities. However, this year we are switching to Band, fairly similar but with some new changes. Be sure to look out for updates through Band for classes, sports, and clubs! A benefit of Band is that the messages are always visible, so if you have ideas or notes you want to share with no limit to word count, Band is the app for you!
SmartPass Updates
Starting just last year, Hopewell updated its pass system to be fully virtual. However, our administration made some adjustments to the system this year. Here is a quick overview:
- Shorter “No Fly Zone” Time: The time you have to wait in between passing times is shorter, meaning that if you have to use the bathroom or travel somewhere before instruction begins, you can do so
- Prior Recitation Passes: For our recitation period, you can no longer make a pass during the recitation. This year you have to make sure you have a pass to go see a teacher in advance, before recitation starts at 9:42 am.
These new changes bring in new room for improvement in all aspects of our school, let’s make it a great school year; Go Bulldogs!
